Thermal Pads are a real alternative to traditional thermal grease for many applications. The Thermal Pads offer some advantages over liquid or viscous materials. This makes it easy to cut the pads themselves to the required size, eliminating the uncertainty of applying paste or smearing during smoothing. The EK Water Blocks pad offered here is already pre-cut into eight smaller pieces, slightly self-adhesive, and usually initially holds itself in the previously assigned position.
Of course, the fixation in the further course of assembly can not be completely dispensed with, since heat source, thermal pad and heatsink (or the heat delivery surface) should come into contact with as large a surface area as possible in order to ensure optimum heat transfer. Here, too, EKWB comes in handy with the user, as the 120 x 16 mm blue pad is available in several thicknesses, with the version offered here being 0.5 mm thick. In addition, the material is pleasantly flexible and adaptable, which makes it useful in many places.
To mention just a few application examples: in RAM water coolers, alternative graphics card coolers, chipset coolers and many other components, where it is important to effectively dissipate waste heat (eg on cooling fins, heatpipes, radiators, heatsinks, etc.).
